21 Weeks

Week 21: Banana

Baby gulps down several ounces of amniotic fluid every day, both for hydration and nutrition and to practice swallowing and digesting. And, these days, those taste buds actually work! Studies show that after birth, babies are most interested in tastes they've already experienced through amniotic fluid. Meaning, think about what you want your future child to eat as you prepare your own lunch.

This has been an exciting week, I have been feeling her move around a lot. I love just sitting at my desk at work and feeling her move around, its so amazing. Although, I am so ready for her to be here I am enjoying my pregnancy. I love being pregnant, I feel like its such a privilege to be able to feel your baby growing inside of you. I have spent a lot of time thanking the Lord that he allowed me to experience something so awesome.

I finished up my registry at babies r us yesterday and it was a lot easier than walmarts but thats to be expected. I told myself I wasn't going to buy anything before I went in.....ya right! I got a coupon for registering so that was my first notion to start looking...hehehe. I ended up getting a rug and really cute pink and brown wall decor that you can put pics of the baby in, for her room. We also got her bedding this week so her room is starting to look very cute. Its not finished but it looks really good, I can't stop going in her room. I also got her a really cute pink and brown polka dotted dress with shoes to match, its so adorable and I already decided she is wearing it her first Sunday to church. I also got her another little skirt outfit that is very cute. I will probably stay away from the stores for awhile now, I'm pretty busy this next month anyways on the weekends so I won't have to much time, thankfully.

I am looking forward to my next doc appointment on April 7th, I love hearing the hearbeat and I'm really looking forward to my one a couple weeks after that when we will get to see her again. We decided to go ahead and do the 3D thing I just feel like I can't pass up an opportunity to see her and it sounds pretty amazing. Only six more weeks until we can do it so we thought we should decide....anyone have any good/bad thoughts on 3D?

20 weeks-Im halfway there!!

Here is my 20 week pic of the belly! :) I decided this weekend that my clothes were unbearable and I needed to break down and get some maternity clothes so my mom and I went shopping and she bought me some, I definitely feel like I look more pregnant when I am wearing them.

Below this one is a pic of my 16 week belly I forgot to put that one here but I think you can see a difference in the last four weeks. I can't wait to get the really big belly!!

I have went a little crazy on clothes but almost all of them are newborn sizes since those are a little harder to come by. I did buy her some dresses for church that I didn't put on here but I picked out a few of my other favs. I love pink and green so I had to get her this outfit I love the plaid skirt. The other two outfits pretty much speak for themselves. lol I know they have lines again, lets face it I am doing good to know how to even put these pics on here so cut me some slack on the lines. :)

So, I went to Walmart this weekend to register and it was not a very good experience. I want all my big things from there so I didn't really have a choice. When we got there they told us that the registry system is down so you have to go around and write down the upc codes of everything and then go home and register on-line. I was annoyed but we did it anyways. I had a lot of things on my list to put on-line and when I got home to start the registry their was no place to put UPC codes. I was so irritated so I just registered for as much as I could that I remember seeing in the store but their are a few things that you can only get on-line. I am going to finish up with everything else I need this Friday at Babies R US, I am pretty sure they will have everything else I need and I know there system is easy. Walmart said that didn't know how long their system would be down so people can either print it on-line at walmart.com or go to customer service and they will do it for you. So, if your going to register at Walmart my advice is to do it online and save yourself the time.

ALEXIS (LEXI) NICOLE!!!!!!

Well we saw a cheeseburger, thats right my uncle was wrong we are having a baby GIRL! We have our u/s pics to prove it, we are still kind of in shock but both very happy. The baby was up on a huge flat screen and the nurse pointed and asked us all if we could tell what it was.....I was kinda looking at it like well it doesn't really look like anything is hanging but I just thought it was a boy. We all said boy and she typed Its a girl on the screen with an arrow pointing to the three lines. She asked why we thought it was a boy and we told her that I had a sono at 16 weeks and my uncle thought it was a boy. She said that ob doctors aren't very good at telling the sex and it is much more accurate when you have someone that specializes in u/s telling you. I can't say I am disappointed to be having a girl and not a boy but I did get kind of used to having Aiden so I hope he does come along some day. :)

I feel like its a brand new pregnancy or something its hard to explain but I'm so excited to switch gears. I actually took some of my boy clothes back tonight and thought I would go crazy and spend more but I didn't. Most of everything I wanted was really picked over and they didn't have small sizes and everything else was spring dresses or outfits that I didn't want to buy her because she will be here late summer so she wouldn't be able to wear any of it. I am hoping in the next month they will come out with more summer stuff and I will buy her some dresses for church. I can't wait she will have a bow(s) at all times, good thing my niece has tons so I can borrow some from my sis. I did buy her a little pair of pink shorts and onesie to match for the summer and I also bought her some pink pants that have ruffles on the butt and at the bottoms with two onesies one that says, Princess in Training and the other says Super Cute. I also remember seeing some really cute little skirt outfits from JCPenny a couple weekends ago so I am crossing my fingers that when I go back Friday they will still have them, not only are they extremely cute but they are newborn sizes!!

I got my bedding today and my mom and I are going to take it back this weekend and get the pink. I will have to wait another couple weeks to get it but thats ok I'm sure I will register and do some more clothes shopping to keep me busy.

The baby weighed 11 ounces and the nurse said she was right on target. Their were a few things that she wasn't able to check because the baby was in awkward positions so I have to make an appointment after April 18th so she can do another u/s and check the liver and kidneys. I am excited about getting to see the baby again but I want to know she is perfectly healthy asap. We did ask her a few times about it being a girl and she said she was 400% sure it was a girl and that if she even has a question about the sex then she will tell you she doesn't know. So here we go starting to prepare for Lexi's arrival!!!

Week 19: Mango

Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.

Everything is going good so far. Our appointment Tuesday checks to make sure the baby is developing good and healthy so that will be important too. We decided to go ahead and buy a nice rocker, the one we have doesn't really fit in well with our crib and dresser and it creaks a lot when you sit in it so I think this one will be better!

Here is our bedding!

So, I was going to wait until my bedding came in and take a pic of it on my crib and post it but I thought I would wait to do that until our nursery is completely decorated...it might be awhile. I have some ideas on how I want to decorate it, I just need to pace myself and not try to buy everything in one month. I love the bedding though, it wasn't my first pick but when I saw the polka dots, plaid and stripes it won me over. My wonderful mom bought it for us including the matching diaper stacker, curtain, laundry basket and rug. Shes the best :) We should be getting it in anytime and I'm real excited.

We had a great two year anniversary yesterday, we ended up getting to spend most of the day and night together cuz Brad's meeting at work got canceled. We watched our wedding video again and it was really awesome to watch everything again. It definitely brought back some romance so I suggest if you have your wedding on video/DVD, watch it together!! I was happy we could go out to dinner instead of lunch cuz I didn't really want to go weigh at my doctors appointment after eating Olive Garden. My doc appointment was good I only gained two pounds in the past five weeks so I was happy with that. We got to hear the heartbeat again, which I love! Only 6 more days until our big ultrasound, I can't wait to see the baby again. This could be our last u/s by our doctors office if we don't do the 3D one. I haven't decided if I want to do the 3D one yet it's expensive and your not really guaranteed good pics. We'll see how I am feeling later I might take the chance.

Week 18: Sweet Potato

Your fetus has become amazingly mobile (at least compared to you), passing the hours yawning, hiccuping, rolling, twisting, kicking, punching, sucking and swallowing. And, baby's finally big enough that you'll be able to feel those movements soon.

I haven't felt any kicks yet but I am hoping I will soon. I have a regular ob appointment tomorrow and then my big u/s next Tuesday. My mom went ahead and bought our bedding for us this past weekend and I have accumulated quite a bit of boy clothes so lets hope the doc confirms a boy!!

We had an eventful weekend, we celebrated our two year anniversary Saturday night even though I was over emotional most of the day/night it still turned out pretty good. Thanks to my understanding and patient hubby! We went to Red Lobster and stuffed ourselves to the max.....their biscuits are the best!! Yesterday Brad and his dad put up our crib and dresser and it took them most of the afternoon and early evening to do it. They started at about 3:00 and finished up around 7:45. It looks great though I love having his nursey set up, I keep walking in his room and turning the light on and just staring wishing he was here (although I am enjoying my pregnancy). It all seems to good to be true but I know this is all God's plan for us and we haven't even experienced the best yet.

We did have one disappointment, the crib and dresser are two different shades of brown. Both of the boxes and order info say espresso the dark brown color we wanted but I guess they are made of different woods so the finsihes look different. Thats what I get for ordering online, we are keeping them and it doesn't look bad we just wanted them to match perfectly. The crib looks more like cherry and the dresser looks more like espresso. I still love them though, everything will come together once we get the bedding in and start the decorating.

Tomorrow is our actual two year anniversary, it has been two of the best years of my life. I am taking off work at noon so we can spend some of the day together because Brad has a meeting at work tomorrow night. This will be our last one without Aiden so we are going to enjoy just having eachother, I'm sure next year it will be hard leaving my little guy with someone else so we can go out :)

Shopping Spree

Week 17: Onion

Baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints

So, I'm not sure about my due date anymore. It seems to change a lot, last weekend my uncle said my baby was measuring at 16 wks and 4 days which put my due date at August 4th. If that is the case then today I am 17 wks and 5 days. I am hoping when we have our next u/s they will adjust my due date if needed. Not that a few days makes a huge difference on your first baby but when I'm eight months pregnant I have a feeling I will be ready to have the baby as early as they will let me.

We have been getting really excited about having a litte boy! I went shopping this past Wednesday and Friday and spent more money then I should but I got some very cute outfits that I can't wait to see him in. Brad says I need to quit shopping in case we find out it's a girl but I can't help it I have been waiting a long time for this. So I thought I would share some of my favorite things....

Sorry about the lines on the pics I didn't have time to fix them and I took them right by a window, not very smart. My boy will be preppy for as long as I can make him!!

I had to put the little sleeper it only fits up to 7 lbs so it is so tiny, my mom was holding it like she was rocking a baby and Brad put it on his shoulder like he was burping the baby. It was funny.
I had to show off his jeans that have the fade at the top they are so adorable, I love the idea of being able to put him in whatever I want!

I love this outfit its probably my fav. I felt bad buying it since he won't be able to wear it much but my mom said after everything we went through I should be able to splurge on a couple outfits he will only wear one or two times. I agreed :)

My mom bought him this little whale overall outfit, its one of the only newborn outfits I have. Most of the ones I bought are 0-3 months so this one will be good for when he is first born. I love it, I have gotten used to little boy clothes having tons of animals so now I am starting to like some of them. I have seen so many cute overalls so I have a feeling this won't be his only pair! Brad said it looks like a dress and didn't seem as excited as me about all the cute clothes he has now but thats ok I will take care of dressing him everyday. :)

Congrats to my cousin Annie who just found out shes pregnant this past week! That means we will be having babies in August, Sept, Oct, and November. Our babies will be so close and have lots of fun! I can't wait to see them all.
